Use it points up on gas and electric coil cook tops and/or solid fuel cooking surfaces and points down on glass, ceramic or induction cook tops. We've tested and used this heat diffuser in our own kitchens and have come to love the way it heats up quickly and evenly spreads the heat onto the bottom of the clay pot!
